EMPLOYMENT HISTORY

August 2002 Present, Researcher/Coordinator-Human Rights & Constitutionalism Programme, International Centre for Ethnic Studies (ICES), Sri Lanka

  1. Designing research projects on, the role of the Diaspora in post-conflict contexts, Interim Arrangements in Transitional Societies and Building Multilateral Conflict-Prevention Capacity in South Asia.
  2. Convenor (as representative of the host institution ICES) of the Human Rights, Education Policy and Language Rights Subcommittee of the Government of Sri Lanka s National Working Group on Reconciliation. Identified priority areas for reform, formulated recommendations based on research and findings of the committee, and functioned as liaison between civil society organisations, donor agencies and government departments.
  3. Active participant in campaigns to formulate domestic violence prevention legislation. Contributions include drafting comments on the Bill, which were presented to the Ministry of Justice, maintaining contacts with non-governmental and UN bodies and formulating advocacy strategies.
  4. Represented the ICES at the Electoral Reforms Parliamentary Select Committee hearing (13 October 2003) and presented co-authored submission on increasing women's political representation.
