Dr Dissanaike is a Financial Economist and a Senior Don at Cambridge University. He is a University Reader and the Director of the Cambridge MPhil Programme in Finance, a cross-faculty programme involving three faculties – Economics, Maths and Judge Business School. Dr Dissanaike is also a Director of Studies for Management Studies at Trinity College, Cambridge. He was recently a visiting professor at Cornell University and, previously, an ESRC Research Fellow and ICAEW Academic Fellow. His research interests include the efficiency and performance of the UK stock market, and corporate finance and governance in emerging markets. He has won many academic prizes and awards, including the Pilkington Prize, awarded by the University of Cambridge; and the Iddo Sarnat Prize, awarded jointly by the Journal of Banking & Finance and the European Finance Association. Recently, he was a finalist in the ECGI Clinical Papers competition, co-sponsored by the European Corporate Governance Institute, the Journal of Financial Economics, and the Swedish Centre for Business and Policy Studies. Dr Dissanaike received his MPhil and PhD in Economics from the University of Cambridge. He holds a first class honours degree in Economics from the University of Peradeniya. (A first class in monetary economics was awarded by Peradeniya after an 18-year hiatus). Dr Dissanaike has acted as a consultant to a number of international corporations and investment banks, and has previously worked for Banque Indosuez (now Crédit Agricole Indosuez). |
