Tariq Jazeel is a Lecturer in Human Geography at the Department of Geography, University of Sheffield, UK. Between 2003 and 2005 he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Human Geography at The Open University. His Ph.D, awarded in 2002 from Royal Holloway University of London, explored the spatial and cultural production of Sri Lankan identities. He has since published on imaginative literature written overseas, the politics of nature/culture in Yala National Park, geographical commentaries on the Indian Ocean Tsunami, and most recently on diasporic Sri Lankan women’s associations. Currently he is conducting research in a number of areas, including the experience and spatial politics of built space in Sri Lanka.
